Lim Yam Poh has over 30 years of work experience both as a practitioner in one of the largest law firms in Malaysia, and in regulatory bodies in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
She started her legal career in practice in a large law firm in Kuala Lumpur in 1990. Between 2006 and 2021, she was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and later Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of the national deposit insurer, Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM). Prior to that, she worked in the national securities regulators in Malaysia and Hong Kong respectively.
She is conversant with policy and law-making as well as compliance and corporate governance, gained from her experience across private practice and regulatory bodies.
Her experience as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer gives her practical insight into what it takes to embed best practices and risk controls into day-to-day business, allowing her to help clients build governance structures and compliance programmes that are commercially aligned with business goals, not just legally sound documentation.
